Any day is a good day to visit Asheville and stay at Pinecrest Bed & Breakfast. There are plenty of reasons to include a Tuesday in your stay. Take advantage of lower rates and fewer travelers midweek and add these activities to your “must do” list.
Check in Monday
Our B&B is ideally located in the heart of a historic neighborhood, 1 mile north of downtown Asheville. Check in the afternoon, unpack, and relax in the sunporch with a cup of tea and homemade cookie. If this is a “bleisure” trip, the parlor is a quiet place to log in and check your work emails. When dinnertime rolls around, walk one block to Nine Mile, a favorite Caribbean-influenced restaurant with large portions and amazing flavors.
Get Outside
Tuesday will start with no commute as a fresh hot homemade breakfast is served at the B&B. If getting out of bed seems too hard, upgrade and have breakfast delivered right to your room! Next it’s time to enjoy the outdoors and the perfect spot is the North Carolina Arboretum. Just a short drive away, this 434-acre public garden is located south of downtown Asheville. On the first Tuesday of every month, their reasonably priced admission is 50% off. Leisurely stroll the 65 acres of cultivated gardens. Or take advantage of 10 miles of trails, ranging from easy to difficult, and work off breakfast. With a bistro café on site, grab a quick snack to enjoy in indoors or outside (café open seasonally.)
Drive the Blue Ridge Parkway
An entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway is at the Arboretum. Check out our blog for tips on a driving loop tour. Options abound from a car ride to hikes to waterfalls. Stop for panoramic views at Mount Pisgah, climb the abandoned tower at Frying Pan Mountain, or see Looking Glass Falls, one of North Carolina’s most visited waterfalls. If hungry or thirsty, then make a pitstop at Sierra Nevada Brewing with a light food menu and live entertainment on Tuesdays 5 to 7:30 (please confirm details on Taproom website.)
Tuesday Table
While we believe food can be communal, the pandemic left some lasting changes. Unfortunately, Rhubarb no longer serves their family-style Sunday Suppers. However, all is not lost as Chef John Fleer now serves Tuesday Table. Each week (except in winter months, on the third Tuesday) there is a new prix-fare menu, filled with local, seasonal chef’s choice like this sample menu from December 20th: 4 snacks, 1 entrée, and 1 dessert–because we love to share our food. Their regular menu is also available with these and more options. This fine dining option is always on our recommended list of restaurants, though we particularly love that we can taste so many dishes at Tuesday Table.
These were just the snacks at Tuesday Table!
Get Your Jazz On
The day can be over as you head back to the B&B for a restful night of sleep. Or make one last stop at our neighborhood bar, Little Jumbo. Located a few short blocks from Pinecrest, it’s a favorite watering hole in the historic Montford neighborhood. Don’t just take our word for it, Little Jumbo made the list of “Best Cocktail Bars of the South” by Garden & Gun. And the best thing about Tuesdays is live jazz with local musicians from 7 to 10 pm. Now we’ll drink to that!
Plan Your Asheville Trip
Asheville remains a top destination. With attractions like the Biltmore Estate and the Blue Ridge Parkway, the word is out about our little mountain town. We hope your trip includes a Tuesday but we’re here at Pinecrest Bed & Breakfast, ready to welcome you any day of the week!
