To Asheville Airbnb…or not to be?

We all know the world is changing faster and faster and one option travelers have now is Asheville Airbnb.  Certainly Airbnb, Homeaway, Uber and Lyft  have pushed the envelope when it comes to our thinking about free market enterprises. Legalities aside, why would a traveler choose Pinecrest B&B over an Asheville Airbnb?

A quick search on Asheville Airbnb website shows 300+ rentals with something for every traveler priced from $68 and up. On the surface it would seem that Pinecrest is double or even triple but closer inspection shows various fees for cleaning, service fee and security deposits which negate the teaser rate.

We would like to offer the thought that while Airbnb offers a room, Pinecrest Bed & Breakfast offers an experience.  Yes, at the end of the day, both offer a place to sleep but we like to think we offer so much more to our guests than just a place to lay their heads at night.  We are in the hospitality business–this is not just a way to make money renting an extra bedroom.  We are totally committed 24/7 to enhancing the guest experience.  That means you get recommendations on restaurants, shopping, attractions, etc.  No absentee owner as we live here too.

Included at your stay at Pinecrest is a homemade gourmet two course breakfast served daily at 9am in the dining room. No added expense, long wait times, or the dreaded “where do you want to eat?”  We accommodate special dietary restrictions and our guests have the opportunity to interact with each other around our communal table, sharing coffee, stories, and making new friends.

Guests also have access to the parlor at Pinecrest and everyone’s favorite room:  the glass enclosed “sleeping porch.” Sitting in this room is like being in a tree house!  It also houses our complimentary guest beverage center and is a good place to sit in the afternoon to eat some of the homemade cookies offered daily.  There really is a lot more to Pinecrest than just the guest rooms.

A recent example would be five girls coming for the weekend who inquired about Biltmore.   Besides offering a 2 day discounted ticket, we secured a time house reservation for them.  We were also able to help them plan the rest of their activities by recommending a brewery tour at New Belgium and a walking food tour of downtown Asheville.  With our suggestions and their advanced planning, they were able to optimize their weekend, squeezing in as much fun as possible!

Next time you get ready to travel and think the best site is Asheville Airbnb, just give a real bed and breakfast a chance.  Apples to apples, we think we provide so much more value than just a room.  We would be happy to welcome you to Pinecrest B&B!
