Pecan Praline Syrup

At our Asheville bed & breakfast, we pride ourselves on making breakfast extra special for our guests. Can’t come to Pinecrest Bed & Breakfast? Whip up a batch of our Pecan Praline Syrup at home. This decadent caramel-based syrup can even elevate a frozen waffle! If you are more ambitious, this tastes divine on our Sweet Potato Pancakes
1 stick butter
1 c packed brown sugar
½ c heavy cream
½ tsp ground allspice
½ t salt
¾ c chopped pecans, toasted
1 t vanilla extract
2 T bourbon or spice rum (optional)
Melt butter with brown sugar in a saucepan over medium heat, whisking constantly until smooth, about 2 minutes.
Whisk in cream, allspice, and salt; bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, and simmer until sauce thickens about 5 minutes.
Stir in pecans, extract (and liquor.
Serve over sweet entrees like pancakes, waffles, french toast, or crepes.
Leftovers can keep in the refrigerator for 7 days. Reheat as desired.
