3 Night Girlfriend Getaway

(Because your husband doesn’t love Downton Abbey!)
Winter can be an ideal time to visit Asheville in our quiet season. With Biltmore Estate hosting Downton Abbey: The Exhibition, fans of the popular tv show and movie should make plans for their winter getaway now.
Pinecrest Bed & Breakfast will set the tone for your trip. This 1905 English Tudor is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Located in Montford, Pinecrest is 1 mile to downtown Asheville and 3 miles to the Biltmore Estate.
Here’s our suggested 3-day itinerary to make the most of your trip to Asheville.
THURSDAY: check-in at Pinecrest. Settle into the Cowley Room with twin beds, antique vanity, and ensuite bathroom with space for all your necessities. Enjoy a beverage and cookie on our sun porch then walk to downtown Asheville. The first stop is the center of town, Pack Square. Enjoy the recently renovated Asheville Museum of Art with late hours on Thursday evenings. Perspectives Cafe on the rooftop serves cocktails and light bites. You can stroll the exhibitions including a collective survey of contemporary Southern culture: Appalachia Now! When you’ve seen enough art, head next door to the renowned French Broad Chocolate Lounge. Their menu is chock full of all things chocolate from truffles, to ice cream, to cake and coffee. It’s a chocolate lover’s delight and when you’ve had your fill, Uber back at Pinecrest. Chromecast is available so stream a few episodes of Downton Abbey to get you in the mood for tomorrow.
FRIDAY: wake up to the aroma of fresh-brewed coffee and an indulgent breakfast served at 9 am. Your innkeepers made you a timed reservation to tour Biltmore House. Included with admission is Downton Abbey: The Exhibition. Fans will delight in the immersive experience with interactive elements that connect you to your favorite characters, as well as the fashions, locations, and historic events of the time period. Take a page from the Crawley family and treat yourself to high tea, served daily at the Inn on Biltmore Estate.
Located just outside the estate gates is Biltmore Village, a charming shopping area. Looking for antiques? Check out Biltmore Lamp & Shade Gallery for antiques, accessories, and gifts or dream big at Village Antiques with its extensive collection of American and imported European antiques. It’s fun to imagine! For the more budget-conscious, make your next stop Screendoor with an eclectic mix of vintage, country and mid-century modern finds from over 100 vendors.
After a long day, it’s nice to know your innkeepers have made you a reservation at Chiesa, right in the neighborhood. Just 2 blocks from Pinecrest, this quaint Italian restaurant serves family recipes, housemade pasta, and local ingredients. Order the spinach ravioli with Hickory Nut Gap Farm meat sauce and thank us later.
SATURDAY: join fellow guests at our community style breakfast served again at 9am and you’ll be ready for another day in Asheville. We've partnered with 2 local businesses for extra savings. Walk back into downtown and go to C&Company for locally handcrafted skincare and spa services. After spending Friday on your feet, book a Foot Soak, Scrub & Massage. This 45-minute treatment includes an organic herbal soak, plant-based chemical and physical exfoliation, and foot massage. Our guests receive a 10%coupon off this or any spa service! Feeling pampered and rejuvenated, now is the time for shopping. If you are looking for a souvenir, MTN Merch has a large selection of local goods including apparel, pottery, and even ballcaps (like the innkeeper wears!) Pick up your 10% off coupon in our lobby!
Some of the favorite spots in downtown include Mast General Store for outdoor provisions, ladies boutique AdLib, and independent bookseller, Malaprops. Speaking of books, drop in Battery Park Book Exchange and Champagne Bar for a glass of bubbly and peruse their extensive collection of used books.
There is more town to see so pick up the Gray Line Trolley Tours for their Hop On/Hop Off tour about town. One of our favorite stops is the Omni Grove Park Inn. Order some hot cocoa in the lobby to sit and sip beside their amazing roaring fireplaces, a truly cozy place on a winter day. Jump back on the trolley until the stop at the Asheville Visitor’s Center. This happens to be right next door to The Montford Rooftop Bar, with unobstructed views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Arrive one hour before sunset for cocktails, small plates and shareables for dinner. Order the tater tots and housemade beet ketchup! Bundle up near one of their heaters and watch the sun set on your Asheville vacation.
SUNDAY: Another homemade breakfast featuring local seasonal ingredients is the first order of the day. Sadly it’s check out time but you’ve made the most of your three days in Asheville.
Pinecrest Bed & Breakfast is happy to be your host for this girlfriend’s getaway. We’d also like to be your lodging choice anytime you come to Asheville. We are especially honored to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, babymoons, or just because.
